NARRATOR: It’s Christmas Eve at the Miller house. Snow falls gently outside as seven-year-old Jordan sits between her/his grandparents by the fireplace. A question has been weighing on her/his mind all day.

[SOUND: Crackling fire, clock ticking]

JORDAN: (tentatively) Grandma? Grandpa? Can I ask you something important?

GRANDMA: Of course, sweetheart. What’s on your mind?

JORDAN: Well… (pause) Tommy Jenkins at school says there’s no such thing as Santa Claus. He says it’s just parents putting presents under the tree. Is that true?

[SOUND: Teacup clinking as Grandma sets it down]

GRANDPA: (gently) Oh my. That’s quite a question.

GRANDMA: (thoughtfully) Jordan, come sit here closer to us. Let me ask you something first.

JORDAN: Okay…

GRANDMA: Do you believe in love?

JORDAN: (confused) Love? Well, yeah. Of course.

GRANDPA: Have you ever seen love? Can you touch it or hold it in your hands?

JORDAN: (thinking) No… but I can feel it. Like when you and Grandma hug me, or when Mom tucks me in at night.

GRANDMA: (warmly) That’s exactly right, dear. So love is real, even though you can’t see it. You know it’s real because of what it makes people do. Yes?

JORDAN: I guess so…

GRANDPA: Now, let me tell you about Santa Claus. Is there really a man with a white beard living at the North Pole with elves and flying reindeer?

JORDAN: (uncertain) That’s what I’m asking…

GRANDMA: (with a smile in her voice) What I know is this: Santa Claus is the spirit of giving. The magic of making others happy. The joy of surprises and wonder.

GRANDPA: Your grandmother’s right. Santa is the feeling you get when you see someone’s face light up because of a gift you gave them.

JORDAN: But what about the presents? Who really brings them?

GRANDMA: Anyone who gives from the heart becomes Santa Claus in that moment. Your parents when they surprise you. A stranger who donates toys to children who have none. Even you, when you made that card for your teacher last week.

JORDAN: So… Santa is real, but not like a regular person?

GRANDPA: Santa Claus is as real as kindness, as real as generosity, as real as the Christmas spirit itself. Some things are true not because you can touch them, but because they live in our hearts and in our actions.

GRANDMA: And here’s the wonderful secret, Jordan: you can be Santa too. Every time you think of others, every time you give without expecting anything back, every time you spread joy—you’re keeping Santa alive.

JORDAN: (slowly understanding) So when I helped Mrs. Peterson carry her groceries last week…

GRANDPA: You were being Santa.

JORDAN: And when you volunteer at the food bank…

GRANDMA: We’re being Santa.

JORDAN: (excited now) So Santa isn’t just one person—it’s everyone who does kind things!

GRANDMA: Now you’ve got it, sweetheart.

JORDAN: (pause, then thoughtfully) Tommy Jenkins is wrong then. Santa IS real. He just doesn’t understand what Santa really means.

GRANDPA: (chuckling) Perhaps someday he will.

JORDAN: I can’t wait for Christmas morning! And next year, I want to be Santa for someone else. Maybe I can give some of my toys to kids who don’t have any.

GRANDMA: (voice filled with emotion) Oh, Jordan. You already understand the true magic of Christmas.

[SOUND: Clock begins to chime]

GRANDPA: Well, look at that. It’s getting late, and Santa—in whatever form he takes—won’t come until you’re asleep.

JORDAN: (laughing, getting up) Okay, okay! Goodnight Grandma, goodnight Grandpa. Thank you for explaining about Santa. I love you both!

GRANDMA & GRANDPA: (together) We love you too, sweetheart. Merry Christmas!

[SOUND: Footsteps running up stairs]

NARRATOR: And so Jordan went to bed that Christmas Eve, understanding that the magic of Santa Claus lives not at the North Pole, but in the hearts of all who give and love. And that magic, dear listeners, never dies—it simply waits for each of us to keep it alive.

[SOUND: Fire crackling, fading]

NARRATOR: (warmly) Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night.
