- Friar Francis is an older man who does well, but is immediately entranced by the promise of the book offered by Asmodeus.
- Our Narrator will help keep us all on track.
- Friar Asmodeus is in actuality The Devil. He tries to lure Friar Gonsole out of his charitable duties with promise of a wonderful book.
