The Communications Committee continues to keep residents informed, making life easier and more successful; and to make recommendations to the Administration on what they can do to help us.
The Communications Committee and Touchtown Ambassadors meets on the third Monday of each month at 10:00. The next meeting is July 15. We are now meeting in Elaine’s rather than the board rooms. As always anyone is invited to attend as an active member or an observer.
A reminder that GroovyTek is now offering technical support five days a week. Monday through Friday. The Help Desk hours are from 12:00 am until 2:00 pm, and the in-home hours are from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm.
Because of this, the Thursday 2:00 Help Desk in the Bistro has being discontinued. You can see GroovyTek for Uniguest assistance. Their Help Desk is located just outside of the Library. There will be a sign posted at the back of the Bistro announcing this new procedure.
We are working with Mike Smallwood and Carole Beard to refresh the exercise videos on TV. Insets offering exercises modified for Level 1 residents are now on videos of the more advanced exercises.
We are working with Joe Kane, Jon Schilling and AVcom on some of the Life Center sound and Channel 1-2 sound issues.
The Celebration of Life for Norma Buckwald will be on Friday, July 26. It will be broadcast on Zoom. It will most likely be very hot. Let me or a member of Spiritual Life know if you would like a login and password.
A reminder that this Saturday July 13 is the big Beatitudes Christmas in July blowout. Most activity is happening in Agelink rooms. Gift Shop and Backstreet will both be opened. July 31 will be our Fifth Wednesday Pie Extravaganza and Christmas movie. See the Roadrunner, Uniguest and
Channel 1-1 for details.
The big news is that Roadrunner Revue has been enhanced by artificial intelligence. AI will read the Roadrunner on Channel 1-2 every Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday from 8:30 am until 9:00. On August 1, we will evaluate this project. Please give Jon Schilling or one of the Communications Committee your feedback.

First of all, the goal of the Communications Committee is to keep residents informed, making life easier and more successful; and to make recommendations to the Administration on what they can do to help us.
The Communications Committee and Touchtown Ambassadors meet on the third Monday of the month in the Board Rooms at 10:00 and 11:00. That’s May 20. As always anyone is invited to attend as an active member or an observer.
We had asked Gabi to attend our next meeting, but after talking with her we didn’t need her there anymore! We wanted to revisit the requirement for residents to have a landline. As it turns out, it isn’t a requirement. It makes it easier to call other Campus numbers.
Dead end signs have been posted at several of the patio home drives. Thank you Facilities for getting this done.
The Uniguest acquisition of Touchtown has proceeded almost seamlessly. There is now a family module under development, which will give your family all the information they need, without exposing the details of all residents. The new FEED button, at the bottom of your phone, or top of your computer, has been widely accepted. It gives a chronological display of the Channel 1-1 slides, with the TV guide for that day at the start of each day.
As of May 1, GroovyTek is now offering technical support five days a week. Monday through Friday. The Help Desk hours are from 12:00 am until 2:00 pm, and the in-home hours are from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm. Because of this, the Thursday 2:00 Help Desk in the Bistro is being discontinued. You can see GroovyTek for Uniguest assistance. Their Help Desk is located just outside of the Library. There will be a sign posted at the back of the Bistro announcing this new procedure.
The May Town Hall is now on Channel 1-2. This meeting will start appearing next week. Both meetings will be shown twice a week for the entire month. Also on Channel 1-2 is the recent presentation of the Health Care Changes surrounding short-term rehab.
We are working with Mike Smallwood to refresh the exercise videos on TV. There is now Boogie with Barry, two Thai Chi videos, and much more.
Next Monday is the LifeLong Learners Summer Registration. If you see a class you absolutely have to attend, be sure you get there early.
May 29 is the Fifth Wednesday. There will be a free excursion to the Phoenix Art Museum in the afternoon, and there will be an event and a movie in the Life Center.

First of all, the goal of the Communications Committee is to communicate to the residents, and to make life easier and more successful; and to make recommendations to the Administration on what they can do to help us.
The monthly meetings of the Communications Committee and Touchtown Ambassadors has changed weeks. We are now meeting on the third Monday of the month in the Board Rooms at 10:00 and 11:00. As always anyone is invited to attend as an active member or an observer.
The Roadrunner is now delivered directly to the door of each resident. If you are not receiving it to your door, please let me know.
A new schedule for the Channel 1-2 TV programs now appears in Touchtown under a new feature. At the bottom of your phone, or top of your computer, you will see four new buttons: Home, Feed, Search and More. At this time, focus your attention on Home and Feed.
The Home button shows Touchtown as you’ve learned to use it and love it. Feed is a new feature though. It shows a chronological listing of all the slides. The first detailed entry for each day under Feed is a TV guide for Channel 1-2 given the specific programs that are showing that day.
If you want a printed guide, there is a TV Guide in the back of the room listing all the new programming – There are four church services on TV, as well as the LLL How it Works series and Meet the Staff videos. Also included are Town Hall, Residents Council, Broadway Shows, and Readers Theater.

Communications Committee Report
to The Residents Council – January 10, 2023
The Communications Articles are going well. They are intentionally under 250 words, and are not intensive, but may occasionally give a detail or two of which you may not be aware; such as how to get Personal Help Buttons, why Channel 12 is still not broadcasting, and new hours for locking the front door of the Welcome Center. You can see past articles and minutes from many meetings at www.BeatitudesCampus.NET .
The parallel meetings of Communications and Ambassadors has been going well. We talk about the cross-over from one group to the other, such as communicating information to you all through Touchtown, the articles just mentioned, and things such as the information shown in the printed Telephone Directory, Roadrunner Delivery, and on information conveyed through the Beatitudes TV channel.
With just a few glitches, the new programming on Channel 1-2 is slowly taking shape. The TV guide for each particular day is shown both on Channel 1-1 and Channel 1-2. There is a weekly TV guide available in Touchtown at the bottom of the icon labeled Video Content, that shows programming for the entire week.
Starting in January there is a new Wake-up program with Community Engagement – this will be similar to Wake Up with Jon & Anthony, but will have the option to include the entire Community Engagement Staff. This will play Sunday, Monday and Tuesday mornings.
Chuck Beaujon, the new Campus Photo Journalist continues to supply photos that are reflected on Channel 1-2 in a new program called Beatitudes Flash Backs, and recordings from Church, musical events, and other Campus activities are also being broadcast.
Admin Town Hall and Residents Council are also rebroadcast during the month; and The Michelle and David B-Informed Show, continues to be aired Tuesday through Saturday at 2 pm, and then again for three hours from 4 – 7:00 pm.
The Thursday Ambassador Help Desk will continue to be held at 2:00 pm in the Bistro. GroovyTek is available Monday, Wednesday and Fridays from 8 am until 11:00 outside of the library. You can get Touchtown assistance, mobile phone help, and laptop help at any of those locations.
Elections were held recently for building representatives and Admin Council. Those new leaders are posted on Touchtown.
The meeting time for Communications Committee has changed to the second Monday of each month at 10:00 am in the Board Room. It was moved from Wednesday by Management request due to potential conflict with official Community Wednesday events. As always anyone is invited to attend as an active member or an observer.

Communications Committee Report
to The Residents Council – November 8, 2023
As of September, Bill Chase has moved on to other projects, and turned the Communications Committee over to me. Thanks go out to Bill for his Service. I’ll try to live up to his excellent standards.
In September’s meeting we purged our membership roster, and as always anyone is invited to attend as an active member or an observer.
There is a lot of cross-over between Communications and Touchtown, so the Ambassadors meet also on the Third Wednesday, but at 1:00 pm in Jon Schilling’s office. Jon is the staff liaison for both groups. There is one Ambassador position open. If you are technically inclined, and are interested in possibly becoming an Ambassador, talk with me after the meeting today.
On Channel 1-2 you will notice some new programming. There is a wakeup video every morning that begins at 7 am. Our 3 pm Church Service and 10 am Mass are being broadcast twice through the week. The Community Wednesday events are recorded and broadcast on a time delay, and Beatitudes Movies are back. The programming schedule for the day can be viewed on Channel 1-2.
The Michelle and David B-Informed, normally airs Tuesday through Saturday at 2 pm, and then again for three hours from 4 – 7:00 pm. There is no broadcast this week, as they are both at Leading Age. If you missed the Fitness Challenge video, that is repeating in their time slot this week.
The Thursday Ambassador Help Desk will continue to be held at 2:00 pm. GroovyTek is available Monday, Wednesday and Fridays from 8 am until 11:00. You can get Touchtown assistance at any of those locations.
Jon Schilling is also having a Touchtown Workshop on November 28 at 2 pm, where he will review how Beatitudes uses Touchtown for communication. Call him at x1 0333
The effort to improve our Internet connectivity and responsiveness continues. Plaza North has been finished, and those results are being analyzed. That same process will continue next in Plaza South, and then continue in each building across the campus.
Elections were held for building representatives on November 7, and Touchtown will post updates for those positions as soon as they are received.
The weekly Communications briefs in the Roadrunner have been well-received, and will continue. You can see past articles and minutes from many meetings at www.BeatitudesCampus.NET and click on Communications, or pick up a copy in the back of the room after the meeting.
We’ve changed our meeting date to every Third Wednesday at 3:00 pm in the Board Rooms. Our next meeting will be one week from today on November 15.
